Page 5 of 5 Summary- In Islam, the revelation of God covers not only humanity but also the whole creation.
- Muslims believe in all revelation sent by previous prophets. They accept that Torah, Gospel and Psalms were originally revealed by God.
- While the Qur'an touches on many topics briefly or in detail, essentially its context could be grouped into the main subject matters of monotheism, prophethood, resurrection after death and justice in individual and communal life.
- The essential message of the Qur'an is the calling of all humans to the belief and worship of one God using their reason and free will.
- The Qur'an was revealed gradually over 23 years.
- There is absolute consensus in the Muslim world that the Qur'an we currently have is the authentic one that Muhammad passed on immediately to other Muslims during his lifetime .
- Although not between two covers, the Qur'an was put into writing in the lifetime of Muhammad.
- The Qur'an was memorised by many of Muhammad's followers and it was publicly checked many times in the lifetime of the Prophet.
- The Qur'an was gathered into a book form within one year after the Prophet's death by an official committee.
- Muslims believe that the Qur'an is the word of God mainly because of the Qur'an's extraordinarily rich content and literary value while at the same time Muhammad was an uneducated person who did not know how to read or write.
